KEEPING GOODS MOVING – OUR COMMITMENT

Determined to ensure that goods reach their destinations, Namibia’s premier rail construction and maintenance giant, D&M Rail Construction continued with repair and maintenance work on the Otjiwarongo to Kalkfeld railway line, during the lockdown period.

This was done to ensure safe running of trains. As a certified essential service provider, the company’s maintenance teams are based in Kalkfeld and Omaruru.

During this time, strict Covid-19 health protocols, such as the use of Personal protective Equipment (PPE), including face masks and the measuring of temperatures twice daily, were applied.

In addition, social distancing measures were also observed by the company’s staff at the workplace. The company further ensured that sufficient clean water, soap and sanitizers were available on site at all times ensuring that all vehicles, materials and tools were disinfected with sanitisers before handling.

This practice continues till this day in the post-lockdown phase.

As a company that is committed to ensuring the health of its staff – it’s most valuable asset – D&M Rail Construction assigned protection officers to safeguard the workers while working on the railway line.

To avert disruptions in the moving of goods, TransNamib trains enroute were informed in advance of the maintenance work to be carried out on the railway track.
